A Hawaii ID for me

Seven months after moving to Hawaii, I have finally gotten my "out-of-state car-registration permit." This lawfully lets me drive around Oahu with California plates on my auto. Once they expire, in early 2011, I will then get Hawaii plates. I could've opted to get Hawaii plates, immediately, but then I would have had to pay the full price to get my car registered here, forfeiting the money I had already paid California for a year's worth of registration. I've noticed a number of cars on the streets here with out-of-state license plates. This means, of course, that the owners shipped the vehicles from the Mainland. The cars are put inside huge containers, during the ocean voyage. My shipping company told me that the fee is probably at its highest in the past several years. I paid $1,000 for my Toyota Corolla. Honolulu is my new home

Long time no write, but I intend to rectify that situation promptly. It's now 5:10 a.m. Hawaii time, Sept. 5, Sunday, 2010. A neighbor's barking dog kept me up till 3 a.m., and once I hit that magical hour, I know from past experience that I might as well give up on getting zzzzz's and arise from my bed. The title of this blog is "The O.C. -- Havin' fun in the sun in ..." I'll see what I can do to revise this hed to accord with the reality that I'm now living in the capital of Hawaii, Honolulu.
